2012 Shinnen En Kai

Dear Members and Friends,

Greetings for the New Year!  May we take this opportunity to extend our best wishes for a very happy and prosperous 2012.
On Sunday, January 29, 2012 the Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple Shinnen-enkai & Keiro-kai, joint Bukkyokai, Fujinkai, and A.B.A. New Year’s and Installation Luncheon will be held at the Venice Japanese Community Center (VJCC) at 12448 Braddock Drive in Los Angeles.   Beverages and snacks will be available at 11:00 a.m. and lunch catered by Cherrystone will be served at 12:00 noon.  Any door prizes for our raffle would be appreciated.

Lunch costs are as follows:

$25 Adults
$10 Children  (Age 10 thru 17)
Free Children Under 9

New Temple members and our senior members, (age 80 and older) are invited as honored guests of the Temple.  Please inform us should you know of members in these categories.
SPECIAL ENTERTAINMENT ADDED:  We are excited to have the members of the Grateful Crane Ensemble help celebrate the New Year by performing two classic Japanese children’s stories:  “Momotaro: The Peach Boy,” and “The Tortoise & The Hare.” (Usagi to Kame). Other songs to be sung include Japanese New Year songs, “Sakura Sakura” (with children from the Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple) and Japanese and American favorites.  Plus someone everyone will know will be making a special guest appearance during the show!
