Sangha Teens

Sangha Teens is a middle school-aged group of Buddhist youths. Sponsored by the Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Sangha Teen members are required to attend at least one Sunday School service a month. Venice Hongwanji’s Sangha Teens also get together with other chapters of Southern California Sangha Teens from Oxnard to San Diego to participate in religious, social, and service activities.

Membership Information

Membership include children of parents who are temple members and from any of the affiliated organizations of the temple (ABA, Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, Fujinkai). Sangha Teens can be Dharma School students, Girl Scouts, or Cub Scouts themselves. Every year, members are required to pay dues for membership eligibility.

Events

Sangha Teens assist in Sunday services by serving as emcees once a month to provide speaking experience in front of groups. Also, Venice Hongwanji’s Sangha Teens get together with other chapters of Southern California Sangha Teens from Oxnard to San Diego to participate in religious social and service activities. As a fundraiser, Sangha Teens run the Snow Cone/Kintoki/Soda/Baked Goods booth at Venice’s Obon Festival.

We do Senior service projects such as caroling and making calendars for the Keiro Nursing home. For fun we take an annual trip to Disneyland and have movie and game nights. We also do game day with other chapters.
