Greetings, VHBT Members and Friends. As we usher in the New Year, I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you and the temple. I will work hard and tirelessly to meet the needs of the membership. I am honored and humbled for this opportunity to serve the temple and members over the next two years.

First I would like to thank Mr. Dale Noriyuki for his leadership and all of the time spent as President for the past two years. He has spent many hours over the past two years. His dedication cannot be measured in time alone. He has accomplished many things over the past two years that have helped the temple grow and thrive. Thank you for all of your hard work, Dale. Of course, without the support of his wife, Gail, and his sons, Darin and Dustin, this would have been very difficult.

I would also thank Reverend John Iwohara for his dedicated work and guidance over the past 9 years. His dedication and hours at the temple, serving our membership and community at-large, is appreciated. I would like to also thank his wife, Edi, and children, Shawn and Jean, for their support.

During this time of year, as I reflect on the past year, I am reminded of all of the things to be thankful for. I am thankful that my family is healthy, than I am surrounded by supportive, dedicated, and hard working members, Board of Directors, and affiliate groups. You are all AMAZING and wonderful people. I cannot wait to get the Year of the Dragon 2012 started.

We started the year off with the New Years Service on January 1, 2012, and installation of the new cabinet on January 6th, 2012.

If you have a computer and want to know of the events happening at the temple, you can access the new temple website at VHBT.ORG. As I went online tonight, I noted so much information there, that I plan to take longer time viewing that information. It is about the temple, its history, to current events. The temple busy and buzzing with events. Remember, Dharma School Service is held on Sunday mornings starting at 9:30 am. There are some Sundays we have special services that begin at 10:00 am.

On January 22, we will be having a joint Ho-Onko Service with Gardena Buddhist Temple starting at 9:30 am. We will be car pooling to Gardena. If you need a ride, please call the temple, or myself.

On January 29th, Sunday, we will be having our Annual Shinen-Kai. It will be at the Venice Japanese Community Center. See you all there. SAVE THE DATE. See the website for updated information.

In closing, I want to again thank you for your support and for giving me this opportunity to serve VHBT. Looking forward to a GREAT YEAR.

In Gassho,
Tom Yamaguchi
