Venice Japanese American Memorial Marker

| April 6, 2012

The Venice Japanese American Memorial Marker Committee (VJAMM) will be holding a commemoration ceremony on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 10:00 AM at the northwest corner of Lincoln and Venice Blvds. The ceremony observes the 70th anniversary of the start of the JA internment, when about a thousand persons of Japanese ancestry reported to that intersection for transportation to Manzanar. Rev. John Iwohara will be one of many presenters.

Also on that day is a fundraiser for VJAMM hosted by Hama Sushi. Bento boxes for lunch will be available from 12:30pm-2:30pm, with 100% of the profits going to VJAMM. Bento boxes are limited, so please contact Phyllis Hayashibara via e-mail or phone (310-390-1576) before April 22 to reserve a box.

Also later that evening, Hama Sushi will be donating 10% of all sales from 7pm-11pm to VJAMM, so come back for dinner and drinks.
