In 2015, we held a joint Goshouki Ho-onko (Shinran Shonin Memorial) Service with Gardena Buddhist Church. A lot of special events were packed into the day, starting with a Seijin-shiki (Coming of Age Ceremony) for those turning 20 years old. The guest speaker for the Hoonko service was BCA Bishop Kodo Umezu. After the Hoonko service, the ministerial assistants for both Gardena and Venice were officially certified. Finally, an Affirmation Ceremony was held for those receiving their Buddhist name.
